“I wish I had a house to call my own. I’d settle for one of those run down shacks off of Bacon Avenue. Just something with a roof over my head to keep away the rain. A space heater would be nice, and perhaps a couch and TV to pass the time. It gets old out here on the streets scrounging around like a rat for food. Holding out my hand as passers by ignore my existence. I used to be like you, you know. Punching in and out five days a week just to try and make ends meet. It’s not my fault the store shut down. It’s not my fault….I swear. What I wouldn’t give to spend the night indoors for once.”
“My house is too small for all my stuff. I need a new one. I know it was sufficient a few years ago, but since my promotion it does not fit the products of my labor. We got into the market at just the right time, and we have a little equity for an upgrade. Perhaps we could buy a three bedroom house that will provide us a guest room as well as an office. I will definitely need a garage to fit all of my camping and sporting gear. Stuffing it all away into a closet is a huge pain. Things look so cluttered around here. If we do upgrade, make sure the countertops are granite.”
“I know I have been blessed with an ocean view mansion. It is great to have the ability to go out my front door for a surf, but it sure would be nice to have a pool in the back yard for parties. Perhaps I need to get a quote for that work. I really hope the escrow closes on the Hawaii property. It sure would be nice to have a place to fly family to for vacation. Right now it is such a pain in the butt to book hotel rooms for such a large group. Only if….”
No matter where you are in life, you could always want more. I hope to take the time this holiday season to reflect on the blessings we have already been given. Taking the opportunity to appreciate the position we currently sit in. The beauty of it all is that God is here with us right now. Look around at your gifts, give to those less fortunate, and say a prayer for the needy. This Christmas Season, thank God for the gift of His Son which is the greatest gift of all. Because of that, we all have everything we will ever need on this earth.
O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
