Visions of soft billowing cotton are the catalyst to my daydreams of comfort and peacefulness. Inviting enough to drop into the large pillow and let it wrap itself around me. Overhead is a blue sky more expansive than the oceans of the globe we call home. Below me, a canvas of trees and rivers dance around to grab the attention of something much greater than any human. A welcome sign looking up to the heavens…..

My billowing white pillow greets me with a shake as to wake me up from my thoughts.

As I am enamored with the beauty before me, the paradox of this soft cloud rattling my head does not seem right. Water vapor taken up from the rough seas find their place in the skies as beautiful shapes of cotton. Just like the oceans, they continue to flex their muscles when challenged.

Is this what the apple looked like to Adam and Eve? The look of comfort, appealing to the eye, playing with emotion, only to be greeted by turbulence? An apple….The curves of a woman’s body…The glistening drops of water on a cold bottle of booze, the crisp green of a hundred dollar bill. Choose your poison…The soft welcoming cotton cloud before you will most certainly be a wake up call.

Things are not always as they seem, or appear to be. My own life has been full of turbulence. Temptations surround my spirit day in and day out. God is my strong plane and I am a passenger on this trip. Faith will get me through this, even if the ground seems a long way down.

II Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
